A LITTLE ABOUT HOMEOPATHY IN A LAYMAN'S TERMS
-
Homeopathy is a therapeutic medical
science, which is based on the notion that substances able to cause certain
symptoms in a healthy person can, in turn, heal those same symptoms in a sick
person.
-
This system was developed by Samuel
Hahnemann towards the end of the 18th century, based on the understanding that
healing comes from within, from the body’s innate self-healing forces. These
forces are to be stimulated by certain substances that would actually cause
respective disease if given in a high doses; intending to heal an illness with
its equal substance.
-
Homeopathy is the practice of the use of
active ingredients in minute dosages along with naturally occurring substances
in order to provide a healthier balance of internal chemistry.
-
Homeopathy is based upon the principle
that 'like cures like' — that is, the same substance that in large doses
produces the symptoms of an illness cures it when administered in very small
doses.
-
Homeopathy comes from the Greek words "homeo"
meaning similar and "pathos" meaning disease or suffering; hence, the reason
for calling homeopathy the "law of similars.
