Autistic kid - remedy aggravation

Dear friends,
I have read the posts in this forum and would like to get your input on my son's case.
My son is 7 years old and he is Autistic. We met an homeopath who suggested Sulfanilamide 9c for a few weeks.
I started giving my son the remedy in May 2010 every day for almost 2 weeks but didn't see any changes(though i might have missed a couple
of days).Some days I gave the dry remedy but sometimes I dissolved it in 1/4 cup water(no succussions) and gave him.Then we had to travel
and so couldn't give him the remedy for a few weeks. I talked to my homeopath and he said that i have to give the remedy at least for 5
weeks before we can see some changes.Finally I started giving the remedy again from 1st June to 27th June every day. However 2 weeks into
the remedy we started seeing strange behaviours from my son as follows:
1) Compulsive behavior - If he sees us walking, then he would ask us to do the same walking motion. Basically he wants the sameness. If he
sees my hand in one position, he wants me replay that position for him. He would be so anxious and would cry so much until we did what he
wanted. Even he wants to use the restroom, he will follow certain steps(e.g. jumpt twice, knock the wall twice, and turn off and turn on
light etc) and wouldn't go until he is convinced that he completed all the steps. When we took him to the doctors' office, he even made the
doctor sit in a different chair.The doctor had to do it, otherwise my son wouldn't let him talk.
2) Extreme Ear sensitivity - His ears had become so sensitive that he was constantly closing his ears and sometimes he said
his ears were hurting. Since he was closing his ears all the time, we thought he had an infection and took him to the doctor on june 25th.
The doctor examined him and said that he has swimmer's ear and gave him some ear drops. His ear sensivitiy had still not improved so we
took him to the doctor again on june 29th and the doctor said that he has an ear infection and she put him on antibiotics. Again that
didn't help and he is still sensitive to the slightest noise and some times he asked us to stop talking even though we were not even
talking. Even now he closes his ears when we are talking or using microwave and he doesn't let us use the tap or microwave or anything that
makes noise.
3) He wants things right away/can't wait or accept explanations - Sometimes he will be playing with a toy and he would have kept it
somewhere. After a few hours, he will want the toy again and we have to look for it everywhere because he will be crying and anxious until
we find it. He randomly remembers stuff and wants it right away. The other day he remebered a yellow flashlight from somewhere and
wouldn't settle down until we went and bought a yellow flashlight. If we try to negotiate wiht him saying 'I don't have the blue ball, go
play with with the puzzle instead' and he would say 'tell me you will get blue ball if I play puzzle'. He will keep repeating 'say you will
get blue ball' until we do so. Either way, he wants what he wants.
All these changes in his behavior have happened somewhere around second week of june(2 weeks into the remedy). He used to be a compliant
kid before and we were able to teach him stuff, but now it is just not possible to make him do anything because of his irritability and
compulsiveness.I stopped the remedy and he has been off the remedy for nearly one month now, but his behaviors have not changed.
Also, just to add that none of his original problems have improved. We are dealing with that in addition to his new behaviors.
Just today i was reading about the remedy Sulfanilamide and i came across the remedy charateristics;

Ears- Pustules and papules on the outer ear. Buzzing in the ears, as
if produced by bell. Bilateral diminution in auditory acuity. Deafness through atrophy of
the auditory nerve. Menieres disease. Boils in the auditory canal.
CLINICAL- Addison's disease. Audio-visual disorders. Cyanosis Delirium.
Dermatitis. Myxedema. Schizophrenia. Thyroid deficiency.

My question is, has the remedy has put him in the above state? I have read some posts that aggravations are good and are my son's behavior
an aggravation? If so, how long does the aggravation last? I remember one time I gave him just one dose of Phosporous, he started nose
bleeding within minutes. When I talked to my homeopath he mentioned that my son was just proving that remedy and asked me to quit using
Phosporous on him. Is the same thing happening with Sulphanilamide? Is he proving the remedy?
Please let me know your opinion.I would really appreciate your input.

Dear Mathur,
If sulphanilamide 9c is proving on him, which seems to be true, You can try to raise the potency of the same medicine to say 30c or even more and just give 1 dose. It should antidote the ill effects of the low potency remedy.
Please use dry pills. If you are diluting the remedy, only a drop of that remedy is required and not a teaspoon of it, which can prove stronger in sensitive children.
The other route would be to use Nux.vom 30c a couple of doses for 2 days to remove all the ill effects of Sulphur. Incidentally Nux.Vom also a good antidote in some cases.

Dear Shri Mathur,
I have not used Sulfanilamide. But the potency you are using is too low for a mind ailment. The question arises why Sulfanilamide. The theory that every thing on the surface of the earth is a medicine and all medicines made in allopathic pharmacopoeah are not the correct process of preparation and therefore cure is not achieved in allopathic system is one argument we can take in for the time being. The fact is that the allopathic system of medicines have the right kind of medicines but the method of preparation do not remove the toxins from them that the side effects are seen in the medicines which normally is more than the curing benefits. The other theory is that these medicines when potentitsed and used in homeopathic methods should give all the benefits minus the side effects. This is possibly one reason why all allopathic medicines are being slowly getting potentised into homeopathic medicines and used according to the symptoms shown by the original allopathic medicines. What one forgets here is labelling is not permitted in homeopathy and therefore, the patient symptoms have to be taken into account and not the disease symptoms. The medicine ofcourse is indicated for addison's disease, thyroid imbalances etc. which are vital signs of Natrum Mur and Calcium imbalances. Addisions is one of the last stages of imbalance of salt in body. But at the same time there is also Schozophrenia shown in that medicine as one of the symptoms. So, when we use a medicine with that kind of characteristics, we need to go slow and see the results before we proceed. Any homeopathic medicine to my understanding should give results in a few days, if not it should be changed and brought back only when there is agreeing symptoms in the individual. The problem with this medicine is that this medicine has not been proved homeopathically though it has been proved allopathically. We need to be careful with such medicines. So, the best thing I can advise is to stop the medicine for the time being. and use medicines to antidot Sulphur.Garcot has already mentioned Nux:
1. Aconitum 30 three times a day for one day.
2. Arsenic Album 30 three times a day for one day.
If both these fails use Camphor 30 three doses for one day.
Aconitum should remove his anxiety, It should remove the other phoebias like sound phoebia, photophoebia if any and bring him back from the chronic anxiety syndrome. Arsenic Album should remove the rituals by correcting his stomach. The restlessness and hurry are caused by the upset stomach of great order. The rituals may take consistent medication to achieve results.
Since addisons's and thyroid ailments are part of Sulphanilamide, it may or may not correct the child. It may perhaps cure at higher potencies. It is a matter of experiment with risk infolved. But that can be susbstituted by known and well proved medicines in homeopathy like Thuja 30, Natrum Mur 30, Calcarea Carb 30.
For the time being a single dose or two of chamomilla 30 can also soothe the mind considering the symptom of "adamance until receiving what he wants". With best wishes.

Thank you very much for your quick and detailed response. From your explanations and also from the aggravations I have seen, I am convinced that Sulphanalimide is not the right remedy for my son. I will antidote him with the remedies you suggested and keep you posted on how it goes.

ok. No medicines in homeopathy need be repeated for months, they may be required at intervals for months but not continuously. My experience is that if most accurate medicines are used at the right potency, the oldest of the old ailments incurable responds within seconds. Many medicines are harmless, but when we are dealing with chemicals at lower potency we need be careful as they are adding to the damage in those potencies to the physical body and endocrine system on prolonged application. It has to be monitored and used. A physicians job does not end giving a bundle of medicine to a patient symptomatically and ask them to continue with it for prolonged periods without him observing the patient periodically and keeping abreast with the evolving symptoms on day to day basis. The system of Hospital or Inpatient system was developed taking this concept into cognizance. A hospital like observation is required to know the correct prognosis and take remedial remedy. Unfortunately, no physician would have that kind of time and therefore the malady flourishes in this world. It is a fine eg. of evil taking over the good and extinction of the good and therefore the universe we live in.
